We proposed a preferred route along County Road 56 in December 2018.
The preferred route in Larimer County starts at the south end of Water Supply and Storage Company (WSSC) reservoir #4, then goes along the eastern side of the Braidwood Community, across WSSC property, and then along the northwestern edge of the Eagle Lakes Community. The pipeline would then turn east, cross Highway 1, and then go generally along the County Road 56 alignment, eventually reaching County Line Road. At County Line Road the pipeline route would head south through Timnath, Windsor and Johnstown before entering Weld County.
- This map shows the entirety of where the Thornton Water Project is proposed to travel through Larimer County. The black lines are the outline for the proposed corridor for the project and do not represent the detailed alignment of the proposed pipeline.
- This map shows where the project is proposed to begin south of WSSC Reservoir #4. There are two potential paths through the Braidwood Community. The pipeline would then travel through WSSC property and then along the northwestern edge of the Eagle Lakes Community with easements on 8 private properties. The pipeline then turns east and travels past Highway 1 and follows a path along County Road 56. Again, the black lines are just the outline of the proposed construction corridor and do not represent an exact pipeline alignment.
This map zooms out to show how the project continues to travel east with two proposed options for crossing Interstate 25 before again following County Road 56 east to County Line Road.
