Here is some factual information about the Source Water Pump Station:
Statement we’ve heard: “The pump station will be too loud.”
Response: The source water pump station will, at a minimum, meet the Larimer County noise ordinance.
Statement we’ve heard: “Vibration from the pump station will become a hazard for residents.”
Response: The equipment used for the source water pump station will be well-balanced and designed to operate at very low vibration levels. Vibration will be monitored on a regular basis to ensure proper pump/motor operation.
Statement we’ve heard: “The proposed pump station should be included in the 1041 process.”
Response: Because the design for the source water pump station is dependent upon the water pipeline route and configuration, which is subject to Larimer County’s 1041 process, detailed design for the source water pump station has not been completed. Based on guidance from Larimer County staff during the pre-application conference, the source water pump station can be approved under the Site Plan Review process after design details have been developed. Having more detailed design information would provide a more robust and complete review by Larimer County. Thornton will seek input and comment from the community around the proposed source water pump station as part of the design process.
Statement we’ve heard: “Starlite Drive can’t handle the traffic for the new pump station.”
Response: Because the final location and design of the source water pump station are yet to be finalized, the details of access for construction or ongoing maintenance are not yet known. Thornton understands that Starlite Drive is a private road, and use of the road would need to be negotiated with the property owners.
Statement we’ve heard: “The pump station will require a backup generator that would be a nuisance when used.”
Response: Thornton is exploring the possibility of having a redundant electric power feed to the source water pump station. If a redundant electric power feed is feasible, a backup power generator would not be needed.
